Do I need to pay attention to provider networks when on Medicare?
Medicare Advantage Plans
Medicare Advantage Plans are through private insurance companies. For those plans, you usually have to stay in a “network” for the best coverage. When you sign up for an Advantage plan, we research your current doctors, specialists, and preferred hospitals. This allows us to find a plan that fits you best in your area.
Depending on the plan that you chose, you would have coverage with those outside of your network however might not cover your costs the best. Remember, you would always be covered in an emergency situation.
Medicare Supplements
Medicare Supplements do not have a “network”. When you see your doctor or specialist or plan an outpatient event, you just have to ask if they accept Medicare. Over 90% of Doctors and hospitals accept Medicare, so finding a place for treatment is fairly easy.
