Do I want a Medicare Supplement or an Advantage Plan?

Do I want a Medicare Supplement or a Medicare Advantage Plan?

So many Medicare beneficiaries have one question; “How do I know what type of plan is right for me when deciding between a Medicare Advantage plan or a Medicare Supplement plan?”.   The best answer is to learn more about each and choose the one that best suits your unique needs.

A plan that is right for your friend or neighbor may not be the best option for you.

Consider your health care needs and budget when doing your plan research and prioritize what is important to you.  This could be continuing to see your primary care doctor or specialist.  It could also mean ensuring you can use your preferred hospital or pharmacy.  Other considerations are costs, coverage while travelling, or the need for a referral to see a specialist.

Using a licensed and certified professional.

If, after looking at both plan types with a focus on your needs, you still have questions, reach out to a licensed insurance agent.  We can meet with you to review the pros and cons of each plan. Additionally, we can provide comparisons that show costs, benefits, and features of each plan.

When you narrow down the plan type (Medicare Advantage or Medicare Supplement), you can also look at comparisons of the products available in your area.
