I have Medicare, do I have to stay in network?
Medicare Advantage Plans are through private insurance companies and for those plans, you usually have to stay in a “network” of doctors for the best coverage. When you sign up for a Medicare Advantage Plan, we make sure that your current doctors, specialists, and preferred hospitals are all covered in the plan that you choose. Depending on the chosen plan, you would still have coverage with those outside of your “network”, however your coverage may not be quite as good.
Medicare Supplements however, do not have a “network”. When you schedule a visit with your doctor or specialist you just need to ask if they accept Medicare. Over 90% of doctors and hospitals do, so finding a place for treatment is fairly easy.
